Something to Think About

The physical body is like a coat that we took from Kal at birth, and we have to return it to him one day. There should not be any hesitation in returning what was borrowed. The devotee goes to a far better state and he does not hesitate to take a velvet coat in exchange for this one of coarse material. And if the devotee has made preparation for this day during his lifetime, he does not suffer even at this transition period, but is happy like a bridegroom.

Sometimes the Master, out of His Grace, appears before us even when we have not crossed the stars, the sun and the moon and have not reached the centre where He can always be contacted. It all depends upon His Grace and Mercy. But in order to have this privilege at will and permanently one has to cross the stars, the sun and the moon. We are subject to laws and rules, but He is not. He can contact us whenever He likes. A beggar in rags may not be allowed to enter the palace of a king, but nothing can stop the king from going down to the beggar’s hut.

हमारा शरीर एक कोट के समान है जो जन्म के समय हमें काल से मिला था; एक दिन हमें इसे वापस लौटाना पड़ेगा। जो चीज़ किसी से उधार ली गई है, उसे वापस करते हुए हमें कोई हिचकिचाहट नहीं होनी चाहिये। सत्संगी को इससे कहीं अच्छी अवस्था में जाना है। इस मोटे कोट से कहीं अच्छे वस्त्र पहनना है, तो फिर उसे टाट के वस्त्रों के बदले मख़मल का कोट लेने में घबराना क्यों चाहिये! और फिर अगर सत्संगी ने अपनी ज़िन्दगी में इस अन्तिम दिन के लिये तैयारी कर ली है, तो वह इस वस्त्र बदलने की घड़ी में कोई दु:ख नहीं उठाता, बल्कि एक दूल्हे के समान प्रसन्न रहता है।

व्यापार में तथा जीवन के अन्य क्षेत्रों में उतार-चढ़ाव स्वाभाविक है। परंतु चिंता ने कभी किसी का कुछ नहीं सँवारा। प्रत्येक समस्या को निजी अनुभव, सांसारिक सूझबूझ तथा प्रेम और विश्वास से ही सुलझाना उचित है।

तारा-मण्डल, सूर्य और चन्द्र को पार करके उस स्थान पर पहुँचने से पहले भी, जहाँ सतगुरु के नूरी स्वरूप का मिलाप होता है, कभी-कभी सतगुरु अपनी दया-मेहर से हमें दर्शन दे देते हैं। यह सब उनकी दया-मेहर पर निर्भर करता है। परन्तु इस महान् वरदान को हमेशा के लिये प्राप्त करने के लिये हमें तारा मण्डल, सूर्य और चन्द्र को पार करना होगा। ये नियम और क़ानून हम पर लागू होते हैं, सतगुरु पर नहीं। वे हमें जब चाहें दर्शन दे सकते हैं। एक चिथड़ों में लिपटा दरिद्र भिखारी अपनी मर्ज़ी से बादशाह के महल में नहीं जा सकता, पर बादशाह को अपने महल से उतरकर भिखारी की झोंपड़ी में जाने से कोई नहीं रोक सकता।
